- DIGITAL AD DELIVERY:
BEST PRACTICES
-
-
-
- We recommend the following
settings in regard to quality, delivery speed and security.
-
- GRAPHICS
- Halftones: 170 dpi , 85-line
screen
- To limit file size, do not
save halftones higher than 170 dpi. Higher resolution means higher
file size, not higher quality.
- Format: EPS
- Do not use JPEG images in
your file OR save your EPS files with JPEG compression. Both
can lead to problems when creating the PDF file.
- COLOR
- ALWAYS use process colors
(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)- CMYK
- Screen angles: black=45,
cyan=105, magenta=165, yellow=90.
- NEVER use RGB color.
- If the ad is to run in the
paper in black and white, do not send a color ad. Convert all
of the colors before sending.
- If you are sending a Quark
Xpress file, do not place TIFF files into your document and then
color them in Quark. Your TIFF file may not print correctly after
the PDF is created.
- DO NOT USE 4 color CMYK
(registration) blacks
- CREATE
A PDF FILE
- Upon completion of the ad,
print the file to Postscript and create a PDF using Adobe Distiller.
PDF files are cross-platform and compressed- perfect for transmitting
digitally.
- On color ads, always send
a composite PDF file.
- SEND
THE FILE
- Use Adtrek to upload the
file.
